Kathryn Ferguson

Kathryn Ferguson is an award winning director and has created films for fashion designers, international brands and musicians including Chloé, Selfridges, Vogue, Air France, Dove, Nike, Sony, Lady Gaga, Dev Hynes & Neneh Cherry. Her work creatively re-imagines storytelling by stretching the conventions of cinéma vérité and is focused around creating more positive representations of women, identity and diverse casting within fashion, music and advertising. Kathryn’s work has been screened globally at film festivals around the world and appeared on Business of Fashion Top 10 Fashion Films of the Season. It has also appeared on platforms: MTV, Dazed Digital, Nowness, Twin, the BBC, and Vogue Video, and is regularly selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick.

In conjunction with her filmmaking Kathryn has worked as a film curator. She began in 2008 with the annual Birds Eye View Film Festival’s ‘Fashion Loves Film’ strand at the Institute of Contemporary Arts & British Film Institute, and in October 2012 curated an extensive fashion film exhibition called ‘Dressing the Screen’ at the UCCA in Beijing and the ICAS in Singapore. Since then she has curated for The British Council & The British Fashion Council, specialising in the emerging genre of fashion film. She is also a Fashion Film Research Fellow at London College of Fashion & a Visiting Practitioner at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art. As well as this she is known for her work as a creative film consultant for fashion-house Selfridges, where she develops and oversees all moving image content for the brand. Kathryn regularly travels around the world giving lectures, and hosting screenings and filmmaking workshops.
